Apple switched from the PPC (PowerPC) processors to the Intel processors in Early 2006.
With OSX Lion Apple dropped support for these processors entirely by removing the Rosetta Framework which acted as a sort of translator fpr PPC-applications to run on Intel processors/Macs.
The ones to blame are the manufacturers/developers of applications that are not 'able' after five years to rewrite their applications to be used with Intel processors.
